Change Your Language, Change Your Life

I hate when I....

I'm so bad at...

I'm too skinny/too fat...

These are some of the language patterns I hear daily from my clients. They are telling me the words they've repeated to themselves for much of their lives. And they wonder why they're not happy! The problem is that they are only aware of how they talk to themselves once I point it out. In most cases, my clients have grown up in a toxic environment, with those words being repeated over and over. Then those words eventually became a reality!

By reverse engineering our language patterns, we can undo the psychological damage we've unwittingly caused ourselves.

Instead of "I hate it when...", change that to "I love it when..."

Come up with 10 sentences that start with "I love it when..."

Instead of "I'm so bad at...", change that to "I'm so good at..."

Come up with 10 sentences that start with "I'm so good at..."

Instead of "I'm too skinny/too fat...", change that to "I'm perfect just as I am, because..."

Come up with 10 sentences that start with "I'm perfect just as I am, because..."

Repeat these to yourself a few times daily, and notice how your life changes! All those things you used to hate or be bad at are forgotten because you're focusing on all the things you're good at. Instead of beating up yourself over your weight, you begin to notice the things about yourself that are unique and beautiful.

Make a game of how many times you catch yourself saying something negative to yourself. When you catch it...smile and think, "I see what I did there! And this stops today!"
